2 cans of green beans, drain only one can
1 medium-large sized yellow onion, diced
1 pkg white button mushrooms, washed and quartered
1 medium-large Ham steak or 4 strips of bacon, cut into 1inch pieces
(If you are using bacon, cook it in a separate skillet first then pat dry on paper towels and cut into pieces.) In a large skillet saute your diced onion with your quartered mushrooms for 5 minutes or until both are cooked. Then add in your ham pieces or cooked bacon pieces. Next drain one can of your green beans then add them to the skillet and add in your last can of green beans with the water from the can. Let simmer stirring occasionally for at least 1 hour. The longer this dish simmers the better… and refrigerating this dish and reheating it the next day gives it the best flavor.
